CONCORD, N.C. -- From the time he jumped in his first go-kart at 12 until Thursday night's ARCA race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Blaise Alexander spent a lifetime chasing victory.

The 25-year-old from Montoursville, Pa., was always ready to go racing.
While driving micro sprints from 1992-94, Alexander made 48 trips to the winner’s circle on 14 different tracks throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. In 1992, he also was the East Regional Series World Karting Association champion.
At 18, Alexander headed for North Carolina as an aspiring stock-car driver.
In 1996, he won ARCA rookie of the year honors. He continued in ARCA the next season, but also dabbled in the Busch and Craftsman Truck Series, posting one top-10 finish in trucks.
In 1998, Alexander made 24 Busch Series starts -- and even led one race -- finishing 32nd in the standings. In 1999, he returned to ARCA, where earned two poles, two victories, seven top-fives and eight top-10s.
Last year, Alexander turned his attention full-time toward the Busch Series. Driving the entire season for SABCO Racing, he missed the season-opener at Daytona but started all 31 remaining races, with a career-best finish of seventh at Atlanta. He ended up 20th in the points
He began this season driving for Armando Fitz before leaving that team. He then drove twice for Dave Carroll. His most recent start was two weeks ago at Dover.
Around the garage area Friday, drivers had fond memories of Alexander.

Veteran driver Jimmy Spencer remembered the kid he had helped out more than a few times.
“My dad knew his grandfather and his father,” Spencer said. “The Alexanders are in the car business. Blaise would come by and borrow race car parts from me.
“I have this bulletin board at the Busch shop where guys write down things they’ve borrowed. Blaise came in just this past Monday and took some stuff for that ARCA car.
“That guy could drive a race car. If I didn’t think so I would have never helped him out. You know, that list of shocks and springs, among other things, he took is still on the board.
“I don’t think I’m going to take that down for awhile -- if ever.”
