ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Kenny Wallace said on Friday that he will reveal his 2002 plans at Atlanta in two weeks.

Wallace did not give any indication whether his plans lie in the Busch Series or in Winston Cup. He has been driving the No. 1 DEI Chevrolet since September, when Steve Park was injured at Darlington.

The team tested at Kentucky Speedway last week, and Park was at the test as a spectator. It was the first time Wallace had seen him since Park’s accident.

Wallace will make his ninth start in the No. 1 DEI Chevrolet this weekend at North Carolina Speedway. In eight starts with the team, he has three top-10 starts and one top-10 finish. He finished 11th last week - on the lead lap - despite cutting two tires.

“He (Park) was cracking jokes,” Wallace said. “He kept looking for the tire man. He kept teasing him.

“He is not anywhere close to being in the car. It was just like the papers say - he has double vision, he needs some time, but he was funny.”

Wallace said he felt at ease around Park, who will return to the driver’s seat at Daytona in February.

“He acted like we are teammates and he wants the car to run well,” Wallace said. “There is no jealousy. He knows that it’s his race car. I was nervous because I have not seen him (since the accident).”
