Yates Power, anyone?
Due to a significant lack of performance, the No. 90 Hills Bros. Ford owned by Junie Donlavey has plans to start using Robert Yates engines. They failed to qualify for the Daytona 500, started 43rd at Rockingham and posted the 36th-quickest time at Las Vegas.
Just a thought
If Jeff Burton fails to perform well this weekend at Atlanta, he could be in jeopardy of missing some future races. Burton's qualifying woes are well documented, and after finishing 19th, 37th and 39th, respectively, in the first three races, he ranks 38th in owner points.
Owner points determine provisional status, so depending on who did what, Burton could mathematically miss a race. This does, of course, hinge of his performance this weekend.
Seeking sponsor
Davis & Weight Motorsports continues to seek sponsorship for the 2001 season. MSN was on the car at Daytona, but a team source said Monday that they still weren't sold on the team's results.
"Davis & Weight Motorsports continues to seek substantial partners for
the 2001 season and beyond," said D&W marketing manager Bob Forrest. "We are prepared to negotiate for virtually all levels of sponsorship."
