Hermie to attempt Virginia 500
The Buzz has learned that former Busch Series driver Hermie Sadler will test a Winston Cup Chevrolet Thursday and Friday at Greenville-Pickens Speedway outside Greenville, S.C., for Team Amick Motorsports in anticipation of running the Virginia 500 April 8 at Martinsville Speedway.
Chambers to CTS?
Don't be surprised if demoted Roush Racing crew chief Matt Chambers, who achieved great success in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as recently as 2000 with Kurt Busch, ends up back with the No. 99 truck driven by NCTS rookie Nathan Haseleu.
The Roush truck teams, which match rookie drivers with rookie crew chiefs, have struggled this season. The No. 50 F-150, with Chuck Hossfeld driving the piece engineered by Roush's former SCCA Trans-Am championship winning crew chief Dan Binks, has performed a little bit better so Chambers, who won four Bud Poles and four races a year ago while guiding Busch to second in the championship may gravitate to the 99.
Earnhardt update
Teresa Earnhardt may attend Thursday's anticipated signing of the "Earnhardt Family Protection Act," Florida Senate bill SB 1356.
The legislature has been express-trained through the Senate and House -- the related HB 1083 passed last Thursday -- and its sponsor, Sen. Jim King, R-Jacksonville, plans to rush it to Governor Jeb Bush's desk immediately following its passage.
But the bill will also probably be the subject of a mass legal assault by the media who question its legality and consitutionality on several counts, including its scope, the fact that it would retroactively protect previously gathered materials and because the public has always had access to such materials, so it can't be taken away now.
