Batter up?

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The Buzz has learned that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will run the on-again, off-again special paint scheme highlighting a Major League Baseball connection.

The special paint job will run on his No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet at upcoming events at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Daytona International Speedway.

Calling all sponsors

Roush Racing’s sponsorship announcement set for Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway will include programs for both the No. 97 NASCAR Winston Cup Ford Taurus driven by Kurt Busch as well as one of Roush’s two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series programs, which have run sponsorless for rookie drivers Nathan Haseleu and Chuck Hossfeld this season.

Fuller needs a ride

The No. 88 NEMCO Motorsports entry for the Jani-King 300 at Texas Motor Speedway was withdrawn last week when the entry list went over the minimum field of 43 cars. Thus, Jeff Fuller, the 1995 Busch Series Rookie-of-the-Year who is currently rideless, was hoofing it through the garage areas at TMS.

"These guys are racing for points and we're not doing that, so we pulled the entry," said Fuller, who ran seven Winston Cup races last season and one in the NBS. "We might have something going at Joe's (Nemechek) -- we're looking at it. He's got good stuff. I'm working on some things and I hope to put something together. Anything's better than this just hanging around the pits."
