Take the Subway

Word last weekend was that sandwich company Subway was planning to sponsor a Winston Cup car in the upcoming Talladega 500. Kenny Wallace's Eel River Racing team has no sponsor, so it could very well be him. Plus, Subway is the title sponsor of Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series race, so it could happen.

Help from his friends

Rick Carelli, who has NASCAR Touring championships in both the Winston West and Featherlite Southwest Series as well as various track championships, has made a lot of friends in his long, coast-to-coast career.

Rick Carelli could be looking for work if Dale Phelon makes good on plans to close down his Craftsman Truck team.

Several of those associates are trying to figure out a way to keep Carelli involved in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series if team owner Dale Phelon makes good on his plan to close his team before the next race, the Ram Tough 200 presented by Pepsi on May 6 at Gateway International Raceway.

Carelli competed in an ARCA RE/MAX Series race and finished fourth last Friday at Nashville Superspeedway. He has another ARCA outing with RE/MAX principal and longtime benefactor Davy Liniger at California Speedway next weekend.
