Busy bee

A spokesperson for Watkins Glen International said Wednesday that Kevin Harvick will fly from Daytona to New York on Friday night, July 6, after Winston Cup qualifying for the Pepsi 400 to qualify his Busch Series ride at Watkins Glen on Saturday morning, July 7.

Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick will rack up the frequent flier miles in July.

After his Busch qualifying run, he will fly back to Daytona, run the Pepsi 400 (which will be broadcast live on Jumbotrons for Watkins Glen fans) that same day.

Then he'll fly back up to Watkins Glen to run the Busch race on Sunday, July 8.

The boy is insane.

Funny man

Mike Calinoff, spotter for DEWALT Racing driver Matt Kenseth, will be a guest performer at the Comedy Store, a club on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, on Thursday from 8-8:30pm.

Calinoff, a former stand-up comedian, will get his chance to joke about racing in the club where comedians like Robin Williams and David Letterman started out.

Graves stays

Despite his title as "acting crew chief," don't expect a change in Fred Graves' situation any time soon on the Conseco Pontiac driven by Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Ron Hornaday. Graves, who joined the A.J. Foyt Racing team in an engineering role last winter, was "promoted" into the crew chief's job when Philippe Lopez left the team in early April. Graves, who joined Hornaday when he was at Dale Earnhardt, Inc. under similar circumstances in 1997, was with the driver for 13 of his series-leading 25 career NCTS victories and one of his championships.
