The Buzz: May 15, 2001

A source close to Wood Brothers Racing said Tuesday that team owner Eddie Wood has bought more land close to the team’s current shop in Stuart, Va., in order to build a second team shop.

Sadler
Currently, the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford driven by Elliott Sadler is the only car in the Wood Bros. stable.

The shop, which will house Wood’s son Jon’s future effort, is in the formative stages now, according to the source.

TRAC Smack

The Buzz has learned a new racing series called Team Racing Auto Circuit, or TRAC, is looking to debut in 2003. Some of its events could be held at tracks where NASCAR events are currently held.

Two of the owners involved reportedly will be Michael Kranefuss and Cale Yarborough. Both were owners of Winston Cup teams during the 1990's. Also involved will be Robert Wussler, former president of CBS Television, CBS Sports and Turner Broadcasting System.

It is also believed that. instead of having owners, the racing teams will be franchises that one can buy into.

Schemer

Rusty Wallace said Tuesday that the No. 2 Ford would probably run at least one new paint scheme this year aside from the Harley Davidson scheme they’ll run in The Winston Saturday.
