The Buzz has learned that Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse could be hanging on the side of Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 Winston Cup Chevrolet owned by Hendrick Motorsports as a primary sponsor as early as October.

Lowe's has already announced they are parting ways with the Richard Childress Racing No. 31 Chevrolet at the end of this season.

It is believed Lowe's will be on board beginning with Johnson's first outing with the Hendrick ride in the Charlotte race at, of course, Lowe's Motor Speedway. It will be the first of four 2001 Winston Cup races entered by Johnson before going full time with the team next year.

Johnson currently pilots the No. 92 Chevrolet in the Busch Series where he has garnered one win, four top-fives, eight top-10s and is eighth in points.

NO BREAKS

The Buzz: August 22, 2001

The NASCAR Winston Cup Bud Pole Qualifying broadcast from Bristol will be presented commercial-free -- “No Breaks Coverage”!

During the broadcast shown on CNNSi, every driver at Bristol attempting qualify will be shown live, flag to flag. There will be only one break at the beginning, and one at the end of the show, once the field has been set.
