The Buzz has learned that a small fire broke out at Petty Enterprises Wednesday afternoon, possibly in the engine room of the Randleman, N.C. shop.

The Buzz: Sept. 13, 2001

FOX8 WGHP reported Wednesday afternoon that two crew members were injured in a fire at Petty Enterprises. One, a mechanic, was flown to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, N.C., with burns to the hands and legs. The other individual was reportedly not injured as badly.

Reports suggest that gasoline was spilled while preparing to load the No. 44 Dodge, driven by Buckshot Jones, onto the transporter. The spill then entered a room that contained a hot water heater and ignited. Reports say Guil Rand Fire Dept. responded to the scene.
