NASCAR.com Community Discussion Standards

You have arrived at the most exciting and compelling spot on the Web to discus NASCAR. Through live chat and message boards NASCAR.com Community provides you the opportunity to express your thoughts and opinions to your friends and neighbors around the world. In order to enhance your experience, we ask that you follow the following guidelines.

Appropriate online content and discussion guidelines

We reserve the right to remove content that does not meet our discussion standards. NASCAR.com does not assume any liability if such content is not removed, and makes the final determination about whether content is objectionable or not. NASCAR.com doesn't endorse or oppose opinions expressed by our visitors. Visitors who generate content in chat rooms and message boards, etc, that does not meet our discussion standards shall be removed. Serious offenses will result in removal of access.

These guidelines apply:

Age: You must be at least 13 years old to participate in any part of the NASCAR.com Community.

Language: Mild expletives and non-sexual anatomical references are allowed, but profanity, strong vulgar language, crude, lewd or explicit sexual references and hate speech -- harsh personal insults and epithets directed against one's race, religion, ethnic origin, gender or sexual preference -- are not allowed even if disguised with asterisks or other text and characters.

Images & Sound: We do not allow the posting of images or sound files in the chat rooms.

Personal attacks: No personal attacks directed towards other members are allowed.. "Personal attacks" are defined as comments that reflect upon the person instead of their opinion.

Identity: No impersonation of other participants, public figures or NASCAR.com employees or contractors is permitted. This includes drivers and moderators.

Disruptive behavior: Please stay on topic and restrict your comments to the subject at hand. Refrain from "spamming," or "flooding" or the repeated posting of the same message over and over. Do not transmit or facilitate distribution of content that is harmful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, vulgar, sexually explicit, or in a reasonable person's view, objectionable. Hate speech will not be tolerated.

Personal information: Do not share any personal information or information about others -- phone numbers, home address, etc.-- with others on the site. Any such message board posts will be removed without comment. Chat participants may be restricted from using the chat system. This is for your protection! Do not speculate about the identity of other participants.

NOTE: You may post your E-mail address ONLY with the understanding that NASCAR.com is not responsible for e-mails or solicitations received as a result.

Copyrighted material:

Message Board: You may post copyrighted material, but you must give the appropriate credit/source.

Chat: Do not post copyrighted material. Post a link instead.

Advertising: No advertising of any kind, including non-profit organizations, is permitted.

Format: Oversize fonts, JavaScript, tables, headings or other advanced HTML commands may be removed. Please use only bold or colored fonts to emphasize you points.

Proper online conduct

Online conduct should be guided by common sense and basic etiquette. You will be considered in violation of the Terms of Service if you violate any of the standards outlined above.

Illegal behavior

The laws that apply in the offline world must be obeyed online. We have zero tolerance for illegal behavior in the NASCAR.com Community. We cooperate with law enforcement on such matters.
