DOVER, Del. -- - Unsponsored and undaunted, Scott Wimmer won his first Busch Series race at Dover International Speedway in the MBNA All-American Heroes 200 on Saturday.

Wimmer, who achieved his best-career finish of second at Bristol last month, took the No. 23 Bill Davis Racing Pontiac into the top spot after a yellow-flag pit stop on lap 140.
Wimmer took the checkered flag under caution when a wreck involving Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Mark Green occurred with two laps remaining.
Wimmer started 26th and led 60 laps. He said the car wasn't capable of winning until that final stop.
"It really wasn't until that last pit stop that the car came to me," Wimmer said. "The boys gave me a great stop. The car, at the beginning, wasn't that good and we made our way up pretty good.
"These guys are awesome and these are awesome race cars. Bill Davis stuck with me and took a chance on me. I was pretty fresh when I came into this series. He didn't let anybody deter him from that and that's why I'm here.
"They say sponsorship rules this sport, and we're running without one and winning races. We've been working so hard as a team to put me in the best equipment."

In June, Davis was under some pressure to close the team because of the sponsorship woes.
"We thought about closing the team," Davis said. "I'm really glad right now that I didn't close the doors on this Busch team."
Mike McLaughlin, who led prior to the caution on lap 138, finished second in the No. 18 Pontiac. This tied his best finish of the season.
"We were a little bit tight rolling in the center," McLaughlin said. "Overall, it wasn't a bad day."
Jack Sprague was third, Jeff Green, Jason Keller, Jimmy Spencer, Randy LaJoie, Tim Sauter, Kenny Wallace and Shane Hmiel rounded out the top 10.

The points battle took an interesting turn on lap 138 when Greg Biffle tapped the lap car of Larry Gunselman in Turn 3. Gunselman's No. 94 Chevy spun and Biffle's right door was nicked by Gunselman, although Biffle continued.
Kevin Grubb spun trying to avoid the wreck, and that caused a three-car pileup on the frontstretch that saw Grubb get struck several times, most notably by Tim Fedewa's Chevrolet.
Biffle had to make a lengthy pit stop as the crew cut the fender off the car. He returned in 18th place, the last car on the lead lap, and finished one lap down in 17th.
The series now heads to Kansas with Biffle leading Keller by 35 points.
