The Buzz: Gibson working for DEI already?

The Buzz has learned that Tony Gibson may already be working at Dale Earnhardt Inc. as he prepares to take over the crew chief duties for Steve Park and the No. 1 Chevrolet team.

Gibson has already been announced as the crew chief to replace the departed Paul Andrews. However, Gibson wasn't scheduled to start with DEI until the end of the season while Dave Charpentier and Steve Hmiel shared the crew chief duties for Park.

Gibson has been the car chief for Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 Chevrolet team of Rick Hendrick Motorsports, and was believed to remain there while Gordon and team are in the hunt for its fifth Winston Cup Series championship. Gordon is currently fourth; 109 points behind teammate and employee Jimmie Johnson.
