LAS VEGAS -- - Bobby Hamilton saw his streak of good fortune come to end in Las Vegas -- on lap 10.
Hamilton lost control of the No. 55 Schneider Chevrolet and backed the car hard into the retaining wall. Not only did it wreck the car; it ended his streak of 40 consecutive races without a DNF.
Hamilton wasn't injured in the crash and was checked out and released from the infield medical center. The last time Hamilton failed to finish a race was at Phoenix in the fall of 2000.
"I don't have any idea what happened," Hamilton said. "I passed a bunch of cars and I was going down the backstraight. I felt like it started wobbling like a tire was going down or something.
"We thought we would try to ride it out a lap then the right-rear tire blew out on it. It must have hit something."
