DARLINGTON, S.C. -- - Dale Jarrett suffered his second DNF of the season due to engine failure.
After qualifying 22nd for the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 at Darlington Raceway, Jarrett dropped out of the race on lap 112 in the No. 88 UPS Ford.
"Apparently a piece of debris or a rock got up in the oil pump belt and shredded it," Jarrett said in the garage area. "I felt the engine tightening up when I came off Turn 2 and looked down and saw I didn't have any oil pressure.
"That's a little bit late. You can put the blame on anything but just bad racing luck. Hopefully, that'll turn around very soon."
Jarrett was also forced out of the Rockingham race with a failed power plant and came to Darlington 15th in points with only one top-10 finish.
