TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Kerry Earnhardt and FitzBradshaw Racing will make their first NASCAR Winston Cup outing together in October at Talladega Superspeedway.

FitzBradshaw, which started the Busch Series season with only enough sponsorship for between 20-25 races, has since secured the backing to do the full 34-race Busch Series schedule.

The No. 83 Chevrolet -- with the "8" representing Kerry's grandfather Ralph Earnhardt and the "3" his late father, seven-time Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt -- will carry sponsorship from Racing USA, a souvenir retailer based in Hoover, Ala., in the Oct. 6 EA Sports 500.

Kerry Earnhardt made his only Winston Cup start at Michigan International Speedway in the August 2000 Pepsi 400, in conjunction with his father and half-brother Dale Earnhardt Jr. He crashed No. 71 Marcis Auto Racing Chevrolet after five laps in that race, finishing 43rd.

In the 2002 pre-season, he drove a Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Chevrolet during a test session at Daytona doing R&D work.

Coming into this weekend's Aaron's 312, Kerry Earnhardt is 21st in Busch Series points, with one top-10 finish -- a career high eighth at Nashville Superspeedway. He has 17 Busch starts in his career.

FitzBradshaw is attempting to secure additional sponsorships to do as many as a few more races at the end of the 2002 season, a partial schedule in 2003 and a full Winston Cup program in 2004.
