Havoline, the primary sponsor of the No. 28 Ford owned by Robert Yates Racing, has been the subject of speculation regarding its future with driver Ricky Rudd.
Havoline has been on the car since 1987, and the company feels they have spent millions on building brand awareness.
Rudd hasn't signed with any team for the 2002 season.
"I've told the teams I've been talking with to get their ducks in a row in case I sign with someone else," Rudd said. "I'm not asking anyone to wait for me because I don't want them to lose their opportunities for their choices.
"I do have a team that it looks like things are going to work out, it's not done yet. It will or will not happen by next week, if it's going to happen it will next week. If not, we'll probably move on and go different directions.
"It's not a done deal with one team. If that doesn't work out, there's probably two other strong possibilities. Actually there's about six or seven possibilities, but two that are really strong."
