RICHMOND, Va. -- Bobby Hamilton, injured Thursday night in a crash on the final lap of the Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond International Raceway, will miss the next three weeks of competition, the team announced Friday morning.

Hamilton, who suffered a broken right shoulder and broken left wrist in the accident, will be replaced by Greg Biffle in the Chervolet Monte Carlo 400 Winston Cup event this weekend. No driver has been tabbed for the following weeks.

"I'm not sure really what happened," Hamilton said. "I realized I was spinning toward the wall and going to hit the driver's side, so I turned the wheel the opposite way. I hit the wall and it pushed me back down the racetrack where I got hit several times."

The accident began in Turn 1 and continued through the exit of Turn 2. Hamilton was struck several times and finally came to rest on the apron in Turn 2.

Following the wreck, Hamilton was taken to nearby Memorial Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures and X-rays. No other drivers were injured in the accident.

"I had such a great truck tonight and was going for several positions at the end," Hamilton said. "It was a racing accident and just one of those things that happens out there from time to time.

"I hate it for Schneider Electric and their promotion this weekend with the Looney Tunes, but I think Biffle will do a good job for the team. I'll be anxiously watching from home."
