CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR teams in all three major touring series will be required to have a spotter in the designated spotter stand during every practice, Busch Series director Brian DeHart told Busch Series competitors in the pre-race drivers' meeting Saturday morning.
The new rule takes effect starting next weekend at Martinsville for the Winston Cup Series and at Memphis Motorsports Park for Busch Series teams.
According to a NASCAR spokesperson, the new rule will require teams to provide a spotter, who then must check in with NASCAR upon arrival at the track.

NASCAR had several discussions this weekend with drivers and owners about the current procedure, which for some teams simply meant stationing an individual atop the team's transporter during practice to spot.
