CONCORD, N.C. -- Winning his first Winston Cup Series race in just his second start has put Jamie McMurray's name on the tip of the NASCAR world's tongue.

With the media blitz that follows a win, it puts him in its ears and eyes, as well.
When McMurray took the checkered flag at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Sunday night, it was his first win in any division of NASCAR. After fruitless starts in the Craftsman Truck and Busch Series, McMurray had never done a post-race winner's press conference until Sunday.
He's getting plenty of on-the-job-training in dealing with all types of media this week.
"Man, I'm still in shock and quite honestly I don't know that it's set in that I won a Winston Cup race yesterday," McMurray said Monday evening. "But, I would have to say that my reminders have been the media interviews that I've done and will be doing later this week."
Right from the finish of the race, McMurray started down the media gauntlet path that probably will last all week.
Beginning with a 9:20 a.m. call-in with two radio networks on Monday, McMurray was busy right through the evening. After the first radio interview, it was another 10 minutes with XM Satellite Radio before some silly time with John Boy and Billy on "The Big Show."

Lunch was easy as McMurray joined the No. 40 Coors Light Dodge team at the Chip Ganassi Racing shop. Then, it was time to look nice because Speed Channel came in for a TV interview.
Later that night, McMurray talked with Benny Parsons on PRN's "Fast Talk." That was followed by another interview at 8:30 p.m. ET to wrap up the day.
There were also countless media requests from McMurray's hometown of Joplin, Mo. Those are being handled on a time-permitting basis.
Tuesday was a little slower in the morning, but two more TV shows were waiting, followed by an interview with Eli Gold of MRN. Wednesday looked just a little slower on paper with only a TV interview in the afternoon.
"I had no idea how many interview requests I would be doing," McMurray said. "But, I have no complaints here. I welcome the opportunity to talk about this exciting moment in my career and life."
