Team: Atwood to drive at Rockingham

CONCORD, N.C. -- Contrary to electronic reports, Casey Atwood will remain behind the wheel of the No. 7 Sirius Satellite Dodge for the rest of the 2002 season.

A team representative told NASCAR.com late Tuesday that Atwood would indeed drive in the three remaining races this year. Kevin Lepage will not drive the car, as reports stated.

Ongoing speculation for the past few weeks had Atwood being released by the team and returning to the No. 27 Chevy of Brewco Motorsports in the Busch Series.

Atwood is 33rd in Winston Cup Series points with no top-10 finishes. His best efforts have been a 10th-place qualifying start at Daytona International Speedway in July and an 11th-place finish at Pocono Raceway.
