CONCORD, N.C. - Those who listened to the radio broadcasts from Atlanta and Rockingham during the past two weekends likely heard Dale Earnhardt, Jr. offer words of support for Florida Governor Jeb Bush in a short radio spot.

Bush, seeking re-election today in the Sunshine State, passed the Earnhardt Family Protection Act, which prevented the late Dale Earnhardt's autopsy photographs from becoming public record.

"Bush did a lot to help Dale and the Earnhardt family, and he did what's right," said Dale Earnhardt, Inc. spokesman Steve Crisp. "He made the right decision there and did what was decent in protection the family's honor and integrity. Junior felt like this was the least he could do."

The relationship between the Earnhardts and Bushs stems from a friendship between President George W. Bush, Jeb's brother, and Dale Earnhardt. And when President Bush visited Charlotte, N.C., last year, Junior joined Teresa Earnhardt and daughter Taylor at the airport in welcoming him.

"The gist of it all is there's a great relationship between the families," Crisp said. "So Junior felt like the radio deal was important."
