Jeff Green: Carquest Auto Parts 300 preview

From Team Press Release May 22, 2003
3:40 PM EDT (1940 GMT)

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- In NASCAR chemistry is everything. A team can have a proven driver, a seasoned crew chief, a quick pit crew and the best equipment but without chemistry between the crew chief and the pedal pusher it has nothing.

This weekend one of NASCAR's most successful, as well as in sync pairs returns to the Busch Series - 2000 NASCAR Busch Series champions Harold Holly and Jeff Green. The two will combine forces for Saturday's CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Together, crew chief Harold Holly and driver Jeff Green captured 15 poles, 13 wins, 56 top-five finishes and 72 top-10 finishes during the 1999, 2000 and 2001 NASCAR Busch Series seasons. The duo, which was then part of the ppc Racing organization, won the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series championship by the largest points margin in the series' history with a 616-point advantage over teammate Jason Keller.

Additionally, Jeff Green currently holds the title for the most top-five finishes in a single season with 25 scored in 2000.

This weekend Green and Holly will be competing for Team Amick Motorsports (TAM). TAM, which is based out of the same shop as its sister company, Team Amick Engine Development, has only one race under its belt in the 2003 season.

Earlier this year, at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, driver Lyndon Amick qualified the No. 32 TAM Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the 11th position.

After running with the front pack the team was collected in "The Big One" bringing an early end to the team's one 2003 event.

While it's been over a year since the two have worked together, Holly anticipates he and Green will have a smooth weekend.

"Jeff and I were together for three years and that's a long time in NASCAR. For us it's like riding a bike, we'll pick up right where we left off."

That familiarity has brought a great deal of success for the two at the 1.5-mile Lowe's facility. In 2001 Green won the May event after qualifying in the second position.
