Bliss gets special paint scheme for The Mile

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Rockwell Automation announced today that it will feature a special paint scheme for the GNC 250 at the Milwaukee Mile on June 29.

As part of a yearlong celebration, the No. 20 JGR car will feature a design dedicated to one of Rockwell Automation's four brands, Allen-Bradley, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

"I am excited to drive the Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation car, especially in their hometown," commented driver, Mike Bliss. "Last week I had the opportunity to tour their museum and facility in Milwaukee. It was impressive to see how the company has developed and changed over the years."

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Allen-Bradley was formed in 1903 by Lynde and Harry Bradley. With the financial support of Dr. Stanton Allen, Allen-Bradley quickly became known for their precise industrial machine controls. Recognized throughout the industry for their product quality, Allen-Bradley remains a leader in automation controls.

"We wanted to create something special for the employees and customers of Allen-Bradley" commented A.G. Barlow, Sport Marketing Manager for Rockwell Automation. "Allen-Bradley has been such an active member of the Milwaukee community with its headquarters located there, it was only fitting to run this car at The Mile."

Bliss has quite a successful history at the legendary track. Since 1996 Bliss has 1 victory, 3 top-5 finishes, 4 top-10 finishes and 1 Bud Pole Award in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In 1999 he also had a top-5 start in his lone appearance at The Mile in a Busch Series car.

The No. 20 car will deviate from its regular red & white design to a black & gold design that will carry signage of Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation and the Allen-Bradley clock tower, which has been an icon of the Milwaukee skyline since 1963. The No. 20 Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation Chevrolet will be unveiled at an employee celebration on June 26 at Allen-Bradley headquarters.
