An announcement is expected Thursday to suspend NASCAR Busch Series driver Shane Hmiel from competition.
The length of the suspension is not known and rumor has it the action could cost Hmiel his Innovative Motorsports ride.
Hmiel was still listed as the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet for this weekend's race at Dover International Speedway, but a replacement hasn't been named.
Jeff Green is a possible substitute. Hmiel was originally listed as the driver of the No. 43 Dodge in Sunday's Winston Cup race, but Green replaced him on the entry list Monday.
An unnamed source said that Hmiel was subjected to a drug test after the race at Richmond International Raceway two weeks ago and allegedly failed it.
A spokesperson for Hmiel's Busch team declined comment Wednesday, and NASCAR could not be immediately reached for comment.
