David Stover: Dodge Ram Tough 200 preview

From Team Press Release July 17, 2003
12:29 PM EDT (1629 GMT)

MADISON, Ill. -- David Stover and the No. 63 Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool / Dave Porter Truck Sales Ford Truck team are confident that the home track advantage and the excitement of running in front of family, friends, fans, and sponsors will help them achieve a strong finish in the Ram Tough 200.

Gateway International Raceway, located in Madison, IL, in the shadows of the St. Louis Arch, is the home track for the No. 63 MB Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck team. MB Motorsports, with their race shop in Foristell, Missouri, is the only NASCAR team located in the St. Louis area.

"It will be great to run at Gateway in front of all our fans, friends, & family," stated David Stover. "We have over 200 fans, friends, family, and sponsors who will be at the track to cheer us on. This will be my first race at Gateway.

"I'm told the track can be challenging and we will be shifting in turns 1& 2, but not in 3 & 4. I did a lot of shifting in road course racing,

so hopefully that experience will help us put on a good show and come home with a strong finish."

MB Motorsports, owned by Mike and Bev Mittler, started racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1995, when the series began. Working out of their race shop in Foristell, Missouri, on the west side of St. Louis, the team has competed in 76 of the 203 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.

The team, however, is most recognized for spotting young, talented drivers and helping them launching their NASCAR careers. Jamie McMurray (current Winston Cup rookie points leader), Carl Edwards (current Craftsman Truck Series rookie points leader), David Stover (current MB Motorsports No. 63 driver), Regan Smith, Kenny Irwin Jr. and Tony Roper, all drove their first NASCAR race in the MB Motorsports truck.

"We enjoy running in front of our friends, fans, and family, " commented Mike Mittler. "The Gateway race gives us an opportunity to invite many of our good business customers also to the race track."

Mike Mittler, with his brother Paul, own Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool, also located in Foristell, Missouri. Mittler Brothers manufactures and sells sheet metal working equipment, such as tubing benders, tubing notchers, bead rollers, and rear end housings to all types of racers (circle track, drag, road course, off-road trucks, monster trucks, etc.).

"We are very appreciative of all our marketing partners, many of which are from the St. Louis area," continued Mike Mittler. "A special thanks to Childs Tire, Dave Porter Truck Sales, C-K Welding Supply, Valvoline Oil, Russo Tinting, Kluhsman Racing Products, and Summer Bay Resort. We've worked hard on our primary truck the past two weeks, and plan to have a good run Saturday."
