Crawford, Starr offer tips on Craftsman tools

FLINT, Mich. -- Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you.

That Sears sales associate you asked for help in the Craftsman tool department was NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Rick Crawford. And yes, that was driver David Starr behind the cash register.

Crawford and Starr will be special guest sales associates in the tool department of the Sears in Genesee Valley Mall on Thursday, July 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. This store was recognized as the No. 1 selling home improvement Sears store in the country in 2002.

"As racers, we always want to finish first, and this Sears store has done just that," said Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Circle Bar Motel & RV Park Ford. "Working in the Craftsman tool department in one of the top Sears stores in the country is going to be an interesting experience for David and me."

Crawford and Starr will be at the store to mingle with the customers, to offer tips on Craftsman tools and driving a race truck, and even to sign a few autographs. Both drivers will compete in the Sears 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, July 26.

"It's going to be a lot of fun to go to the Sears store and work with the people that actually sell the Craftsman tools," said Starr, driver of the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet. "Seeing what the sales associates do on a day to day basis, talking to the customers and meeting the people who support Craftsman and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will be great."

For Crawford, working in the Craftsman tool department has an added meaning during the Michigan weekend. Crawford's No. 14 race truck will carry a special Craftsman paint scheme for the Sears 200.

"I've had a long relationship with Craftsman, and I'm honored to be representing the brand on the race track at Michigan and in one of Sears' top stores," Crawford said. "I'll be telling all the race fans and tool buyers at Sears to cheer for the No. 14 Craftsman truck."
