BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Brian Rose, a former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver from Bowling Green, faces several drug charges.
Rose, 23, was arrested July 23 and has been charged with first-degree alcohol intoxication, possession of marijuana, first-degree prescription in an improper container, second-degree possession of an illegal substance of an unspecified origin and first-degree promoting contraband.
Rose posted a $7,500 bond and was released from the Warren County Regional Jail. The charges will be considered by a Warren County grand jury.
On April 28, NASCAR suspended Rose indefinitely for undisclosed reasons, although the sanctioning body did say it was not because of on-track actions. He made two starts this season, finishing 14th in Darlington, S.C., and 24th in Martinsville, Va., driving for Howard Carpenter Racing of Owensboro.
Owen Kearns, the director of communications for the NASCAR truck series, said Rose still is under suspension.
Rose competed in 21 races in 2002 with one top-five and five top-10 finishes while driving for Bobby Hamilton Racing. Rose made his series debut in 2001. He finished 22nd in the truck series point standings both years and had earned $366,311 entering this year.
