From Track Press Release September 10, 2003
9:03 AM EDT (1303 GMT)

LAS VEGAS -- Even though this year's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is almost three weeks away, plans already are under way for the 2004 event.

Speedway officials announced Tuesday that NASCAR's third-tier racing series will return to the 1.5-mile superspeedway on Sept. 25, 2004. This year's Las Vegas 350 is set for Saturday, Sept. 27.

"The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has shown tremendous growth each year," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "Based on ticket sales for the upcoming event, the series increase in popularity in Las Vegas is comparable to other parts of the country. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck races have been some of the most exciting events in the seven-year history of Las Vegas Motor Speedway."

The 2004 event will mark the eighth visit by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Local driver Brendan Gaughan, who currently leads the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings, is expected to be among the contenders for the 2004 title. David Starr won the last Las Vegas 350 on Oct. 13, 2002.

"Every driver looks forward to racing in Las Vegas," Gaughan said. "It is one of the most anticipated stops on the schedule and everything from the speedway to the city is first class all the way."

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event will be 350 kilometers (146 laps). Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
