LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- With three wins under his belt already this season, Carl Edwards is looking to make it "four of a kind" in Las Vegas this weekend.
Edwards will be racing the same No. 99 Superchips F-150 that won at Kentucky in July and Nashville in August, which should give him pretty good odds.
"I can't wait to race at Vegas again," Edwards said. "I went there last year with Mittler's team and we blew up a few laps into the race. I felt like I was just getting the hang of it when the race ended early for us.
"This time we're not only going to finish the entire race, but with luck on our side we'll be the first across the finish line. If I were a gambling person, I'd put money on it."
Edwards stayed out west during the week between the California and Vegas races and took some time to explore the area.
"I really like this part of the country and I don't get out here very often so I have to enjoy it while I can," Edwards said. "I wasn't in a huge hurry to get to Las Vegas since I don't really gamble, so instead I spent a lot of time rock climbing and checking out the spectacular scenery around here. Some day I wouldn't mind having a house in the middle of the desert where it's quiet and open. Maybe I'll find my perfect house while I'm out roaming around this week. It would be a tough commute to the shop though."
Las Vegas has been a good track for Roush Racing over the years. Roush has earned two wins and four top-five finishes since the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series began racing there in 1996. Joe Ruttman won in 1997 and Greg Biffle in 1999. This year Edwards would like to add his name to the list of winning Roush drivers.
"Winning Vegas would be very cool," Edwards said. "I still really want to beat Kurt Busch's rookie record of winning four races. If I can win at Vegas then I can at least tie the record, and I'll still have five more chances to break it before the season ends."
