Brendan Gaughan: Las Vegas 350 preview

From Team Press Release September 26, 2003
3:23 PM EDT (1923 GMT)

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- When the Las Vegas 350 gets underway on Saturday evening, September 27 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Brendan Gaughan and Orleans Racing will be looking to hit a home run on their hometown track.

Piloting the No. 62 Orleans Dodge, Gaughan, the current point leader in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has high hopes for this upcoming round.

"We will be running our No. 9 Dodge, the one we took the win with at Michigan," says Gaughan, and the one we took second with last week at Fontana. It is definitely one of the best Dodges in our stable and should be the perfect ticket for this track."

No newcomer to winning at Las Vegas, Gaughan and Orleans Racing scored top honors here in the NASCAR Winston West Series in 2001.

"I love running here," continues Gaughan. "I have logged a tremendous amount of miles on this track, both racing and with the Richard Petty Driving experience. In fact, I ran my first ever NASCAR race here. It is also great when the stands are filled with all your family and friends. It adds an extra special incentive to do well and that's precisely what we intend to do."

Adding even extra incentive this weekend is the fact that a win by Gaughan would cinch the Manufacturers Championship for Dodge.

"Dodge earned the Manufacturers title in 2001 and I would like nothing more than to be able to bring them their second one this weekend. And, obviously, it would bring us closer to our goal of earning Dodge their first Driver's Championship in the Craftsman Truck Series."

With four wins this year and a 42 point lead in the points battle there is no doubt that Orleans Racing has all the necessary ingredients to take the win this weekend.

"Our whole team is awesome," concludes Gaughan. "There are six races left to go in the Series and we are going to be going full bore at every one. We've held the lead for the last three races and we have no intention of letting go."
