DICK BERGGREN – Pit Reporter
Dick Berggren brings over 30 years of motorsports experience as a driver, journalist and broadcaster to FOX' NASCAR broadcasts as he serves as pit reporter along with Matt Yocum, Steve Byrnes and Jeanne Zelasko. Berggren's television career began in 1981 with ESPN where he served as a booth analyst and pit road reporter during television's early coverage of Winston Cup and Busch Grand National events. He has worked as a pit road reporter and booth analyst for TBS, TNN, and CBS. Berggren was formerly a professor of psychology at Emanuel College in Boston after earning a doctorate in psychology from Tufts University. In addition to his television work, Berggren currently serves as executive editor of Speedway Illustrated, which he founded in 1999.
STEVE BYRNES – Pit Reporter
Steve Byrnes brings experience from both behind and in front of the camera to NASCAR on FOX's third season of coverage, serving as a pit reporter alongside Matt Yocum, Jeanne Zelasko and Dick Berggren. In addition, Byrnes hosts TOTALLY NASCAR on Fox Sports Net. Byrnes' motorsports credits also include a role as analyst for the Summer Legends Shoot-Out Series on Fox Sports Net. He embarked on his broadcasting career in Washington D.C. as a television producer for a Washington Redskins pregame show. After two years, he moved to Charleston, S.C. where he produced a variety of sports including local college, PGA and LPGA golf, while sharpening his on-camera delivery. Byrnes' NASCAR credits include serving as a pit road reporter during live Winston Cup and Busch Series events for TNN, TBS and CBS.
JEFF HAMMOND – Prerace Analyst
Champion crew chief Jeff Hammond serves as an analyst for the network's live, on-site prerace program from the now famous "Hollywood Hotel." Working alongside prerace host Chris Myers, the duo were an instant success among NASCAR fans. In addition to his prerace show duties, Hammond also frequently contributes commentary during FOX Sports race coverage. Hammond also serves as an analyst on FX, SPEED Channel and Fox Sports Net's NASCAR coverage. In 1974, at the age of 17, Jeff Hammond began his NASCAR career as a tire changer for Walter Ballard. In 1982, he became a crew chief for the first time, working for Darrell Waltrip, his NASCAR on FOX colleague, at the pinnacle of the legendary driver's NASCAR Winston Cup career. Together, the pair saw Victory Lane an impressive 43 times, including Waltrip's Daytona 500 victory in 1989. Hammond, known as a methodical strategist, was Waltrip's pit boss in two of his three NASCAR Winston Cup Championship seasons (1982 and 1985).
MIKE JOY – Race Announcer
Broadcasting veteran Mike Joy brings over 30 years of motorsports experience into the booth as the principal race announcer for NASCAR on FOX. Joy is teamed with legendary Winston Cup driver Darrell Waltrip and former crew chief Larry McReynolds to form the NASCAR on FOX broadcast team. Their consistently strong performance prompted The New York Times to write, "Every TV motorsports race team should be measured against FOX's Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds for pure intensity." The trio also serves as the main announcers for NASCAR coverage on FX and Fox Sports Net. Joy has broadcast most major forms of American motorsports for television and radio. The 2003 Daytona 500 marks Joy's 25th, where prior to joining FOX, he anchored the last three for CBS Sports after 15 years on pit road for the network. Before that, he called "The Great American Race" for Motor Racing Network Radio. Joy also hosted Fox Sports Net Formula 1 coverage from 1998 to 2000.
LARRY McREYNOLDS – Race Analyst
Former crew chief Larry McReynolds joins legendary driver and fellow analyst Darrell Waltrip, plus veteran race announcer Mike Joy to form the NASCAR on FOX broadcast team. Offering keen insight into the complicated interworkings of race teams, including pit crew details, car descriptions and particulars of the driver/crew chief relationship, McReynolds was an instant success during FOX' 2001 premiere season, which was his first spent on the air full-time. Upon teaming with Joy and Waltrip, their consistently strong performance prompted The New York Times to write, "Every TV motorsports race team should be measured against FOX's Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds for pure intensity." McReynolds has 23 years of racing experience under his cap, and has literally seen and done it all. His success and gentlemanly demeanor have earned him tremendous respect among his peers. McReynolds was a NASCAR Winston Cup crew chief from 1985 to 2000, and a member of Richard Childress Racing (RCR) from 1997 to 2000. He began at RCR as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt and the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Service Plus team. Together, they combined for what is arguably the biggest win of the late Earnhardt's career, the 1998 Daytona 500.
CHRIS MYERS – Prerace Host
Emmy Award-winner Chris Myers serves as host of NASCAR on FOX's live, on-site prerace program from the now famous "Hollywood Hotel." Working alongside champion crew chief Jeff Hammond, the duo were an instant success, becoming a prominent fixture amid the infield festivities at NASCAR events nationwide. Myers also hosts NASCAR coverage on FX and Fox Sports Net. Myers brought instant credibility to Fox Sports Net when he joined the network in December of 1998. As an anchor on the NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT and the weekly sports magazine program GOIN' DEEP. He currently hosts Fox Sports Net's, THE NFL SHOW, alongside D'Marco Farr, Tony Siragusa and Michael Irvin. Myers previously worked at ESPN for 11 years. His responsibilities included hosting Up Close as well as reporting for and anchoring SportsCenter. He was awarded an Emmy in the Sports Features category in 1990 as an anchor/reporter.
DARRELL WALTRIP – Race Analyst
Legendary stock car driver Darrell Waltrip, winner of 84 career NASCAR Winston Cup Series races and three-time Winston Cup Points Champion, serves as lead race analyst for NASCAR on FOX/FX. Joining veteran race announcer Mike Joy and former crew chief Larry McReynolds, the trio form the NASCAR on FOX/FX broadcast team. Waltrip's prominent addition to NASCAR on FOX in February 2001 added instant credibility with the sport's strong, loyal fan base and his brilliant performance ever since led Sports Illustrated to recently offer the following in its 2003 season preview: "Behind the mike for FOX Sports, the story-telling catchphrase-spouting DW has blossomed as the voice of NASCAR." Waltrip captured the checkered flag in the 1989 Daytona 500, he twice copped the NASCAR Winston Cup Series Most Popular Driver Award (1989-90), and his 84 career wins rank him third on the all-time list. Waltrip is the first three-time winner of the America Driver of the Year Award (1979, 1981-82) and the only five-time winner of the Coca-Cola 600.
MATT YOCUM – Pit Reporter
Matt Yocum returns to NASCAR on FOX after spending two years as the only on-air talent to work for both FOX/FX and NBC/TNT. He formerly served as motorsports reporter, anchor, and pit reporter on ESPN, reporting on shows such as RPM2Night, NASCAR2Day, SportsCenter, and various NASCAR racing telecasts. He also served as an Internet columnist at ESPN.com and was a weekly contributor to RPMNow Radio and ESPN Radio. His broadcasting career began as a sports reporter and anchor at NBC affiliates in Orlando and Bristol, Tenn. before joining TNN World Sports in 1995. He spent four years at TNN as a pit reporter and Motorsports Bureau Reporter, covering live NASCAR telecasts such as Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, Trucks, Busch Grand National North, ARCA, and other regional series.
JEANNE ZELASKO – Pit Reporter
Jeanne Zelasko brings years of reporting experience to her role as NASCAR on FOX pit reporter, the first filled by a woman on network television. Zelasko's other duties include host of FOX' Emmy Award-winning SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK pregame show and MLB post season coverage. The versatile journalist has performed many functions since joining the FOX Sports family in 1996, including anchor of Fox Sports Net's NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT and sideline and feature reporter for FOX NFL SUNDAY.
