"We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Academy that recognizes the technological advancements that extend beyond the reach of traditional television," said Drew Reifenberger, executive vice president of Turner Sports program planning, acquisitions and interactive. "Our top priority at NASCAR.com is to provide racing fans with the most in-depth NASCAR experience possible when they can't make it to the track. PitCommand is a perfect extension of those ideals and another example of the complimentary relationship our interactive business plays with the live broadcast event."
TrackPass with PitCommand, developed in conjunction with Sportvision, Inc., is a live streaming GPS telemetry application that tracks the position of all 43 NASCAR Winston Cup Series cars' on track in real-time, while displaying each car's speed, RPMs, throttle and braking, along with live in-car audio communication between Winston Cup drivers and their teams during race. PitCommand is a premium feature of NASCAR.com's TrackPass subscription service. TrackPass provides live timing and scoring coverage of NASCAR Winston Cup Series qualifying, NASCAR Busch Series qualifying and races; and multimedia features that include condensed video versions of NASCAR races, extensive multimedia archives, and live audio race and news coverage.
Sportvision, an Emmy award-winning interactive sports marketing and technology-company, is renowned for developing graphic broadcast enhancements, which include the RACEf/x graphics seen on all Winston Cup Series telecasts. The Sportvision RACEf/x system powers PitCommand by collecting and transmitting real-time vehicle data, such as throttle position, RPM, speed, braking, slip angle, G force, and many others, from every Winston Cup car five times every second.
"We are thrilled that our partnership with NASCAR.com and Turner Sports continues to thrive, and this Emmy award is the culmination of our commitment to providing avid NASCAR fans who are not at the track, with the tools to stay close to the action and follow their favorite drivers on a weekly basis," said Hank Adams, CEO, Sportvision, Inc.
