ATLANTA -- Daytona fans, don't be confused or concerned that the seat numbers and even the grandstand listed on your ticket stub might be different than in previous years. It's just the track's way of keeping up with technology.

As part of a system upgrade at Daytona International Speedway, nearly 70,000 seats on the front stretch have been changed.
The eight grandstands involved -- Lockhart, Keech, Segrave, Roberts, Campbell, Weatherly, Depalma and Oldfield -- have all been renumbered in an effort to align grandstand seating with a new ticketing system.

The new software system, called FanTracker, has been in the works since the end of last season.
"We upgraded our system with goals for more options for online sales, better customer service and to update our venue to standards used within the industry," said Kathy Catron, Daytona International Speedway senior manager of communications.

If you had a good seat and are afraid you lost it, don't fret. You will see all the action from the same vantage point as in the past. For those fans who have renewed their tickets, the actual seat location will remain the same, but you may see different seat numbers and perhaps even a different grandstand listed on your ticket.
To alleviate some of the confusion expected with the change and to help fans find their seats, additional signage has been added to the track directing them to the proper grandstand. For those fans who may have had a few cocktails before the big race, Catron said other measures have been taken to avoid any problems.

In addition to added signage, communication has been sent out along with tickets, extra training has been set up for event staff and information has been posted on the track web site to inform affected fans.
"We're doing a lot of education and communication with our ticket holders in advance of their arrival to our Speedweeks events," Catron said. "We expect very little disruption."

While 70 percent of the seats on the front stretch were renumbered, none of the 70,000 seats on the super stretch were affected.
