DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Michael Waltrip has won the rain-shortened Daytona 500. It is his second Daytona 500 title.
All three of Waltrip's Winston Cup victories have come at Daytona.
Waltrip led 68 of the 109 laps that were run before the rains fell at Daytona International Speedway. His teammate, Dale Earnhardt Jr., lost three laps after an unscheduled pit stop to change his battery. He finished 36th.
Kurt Busch finished second, and Jimmie Johnson was third. Kevin Harvick was fourth.
Six cars were affected by crashes, most notably pole-sitter Jeff Green, who was involved in a crash with Jimmy Spencer.
Ryan Newman finished 43rd after a wild wreck through the infield on lap 58.
