Petty to miss race, Fittipaldi will fill in

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Kyle Petty will miss today's Samsung/Radio Shack 500 due to rib injuries sustained in last week's event at Bristol.

Christian Fittipaldi, who practiced the car in both sessions on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway, will make his third career Winston Cup start. Petty had qualified the car 28th.

Petty had hoped to start the race to maintain his position in the series standings -- he is 35th after six races.

Due to the change, Fittipaldi will have to drop back to the rear of the field for the start of the event.
