TALLADEGA, Ala. -- The left front tire from Ryan Newman's Dodge flew outside the track during a lap-five accident in Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, damaging a car parked outside Turn 2. No one was injured by the tire.

NASCAR is in possession of the tire and tether, and will take it to their research and development center in Concord, N.C. for evaluation.
No grandstands are located in the area where the tire exited the track, but track spokesman Ken Patterson said a campground is some 300 yards behind the wall.
"It went over the wall and landed on a parked car, a car that belonged to one of the EMS workers on the Allison grandstands," Patterson said. "Nobody was in the area. The car belonged to a track worker, so (damages) are covered."
Patterson was unaware of where liability would lie if the car had belonged to a fan.
Newman, last week's winner at Texas Motor Speedway, blew a left rear tire between Turns 1 and 2, triggering a 27-car melee that eliminated eight cars from competition.
Newman has experienced dismal luck on superspeedways thus far this year. He finished 43rd in the Daytona 500 after a horrific accident that sent him airborne. He finished 39th Sunday.
