BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Rusty Wallace was injured in an accident with Michael Waltrip during Saturday night's Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway and was taken to a Bristol-area hospital.

Wallace was treated and released later in the evening after a negative CT scan.

Waltrip was racing Jeff Green hard into Turn 3 on lap 88 of the 500-lap event when Waltrip got down on the apron and lost control of his Chevrolet. He backed hard into the outside retaining wall, and then slid down the track just in front of Wallace.

"Ran out of room there, got into (Turn) 3 and Jeff squeezed me down," Waltrip said. "He was just doing his job, and I got on the apron a little bit and got sideways, spun out.

"We'll just have to concentrate on what's next, Darlington, go down there and win that race and this won't seem near as important."

Both drivers were retired from the event, marking Waltrip's first DNF of the season. Wallace, meanwhile, has recorded DNFs in consecutive weeks and has a total of three this year.
