J. Green to pilot No. 43 at Talladega, Lowe's

DOVER, Del. -- Jeff Green will be in Petty Enterprises' No. 43 Dodge two more times this season, a team spokesman confirmed Saturday.

Green will be behind the wheel of the No. 43 next weekend at Talladega Superspeedway and Oct. 11 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Green is driving the car this weekend because regular driver Christian Fittipaldi was slated to drive the No. 44 in a sponsor deal reached before the Pettys released John Andretti.

Fittipaldi replaced Andretti in the No. 43 but still had the commitment to drive four races in the No. 44. He failed to qualify the No. 44 at Daytona and didn't make the field at Dover International Speedway because the team didn't have enough owners' points or qualifying attempts.

Fittipaldi will be in the No. 44 at Talladega and Charlotte, returning to the No. 43 for the remaining races.

Green started the year with Richard Childress Racing but was released from the No. 30 car after the first Richmond race. He then joined Dale Earnhardt Inc. but was out of that car after Darlington two races ago.
