If you think Kasey Kahne was a little miffed about his run-in with Tony Stewart at Chicagoland, just wait until October at Atlanta. He's going to MAD, really MAD. Kahne is one of four NASCAR drivers who will be participating in a special paint scheme promotion featuring classic characters from MAD Magazine, the best-selling satirical publication that debuted in 1952. The program will include a total of seven drivers from NASCAR, NHRA and the World of Outlaws. Joining Kahne as the NASCAR contingent will be Jeremy Mayfield, Michael Waltrip, and Kenny Wallace. The quartet will roll out their MAD Racing machines during the NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup Series events at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Oct. 30-31. Michael Waltrip will run his MAD paint job in Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series contest, while the other three will run in the weekend's main event for Nextel Cup cars on Sunday. That same weekend, Jeg and Troy Coughlin will go MAD in the NHRA Pro Stock event in Las Vegas. Danny "The Dude" Lasoski will run a MAD-themed sprint car in the WoO meet in Vegas during the first weekend of November, Each race car will share a specially designed MAD Racing "Unsafe at Any Speed!" logo featuring the "Spy" characters from Spy vs. Spy. Action Performance Companies Inc. designed the logo specifically for this latest MAD Racing program. Action will replicate all cars in the program in die-cast. Collectibles for the NASCAR drivers involved can be found at the NASCAR.COM SuperStore. "In recent years, MAD Racing has been a growing presence on the race scene," explained Fred Wagenhals, Action Performance's chairman, president and CEO. "It started with a few specials over the years in the NHRA and now has evolved into this cross-circuit event. "Visually, the cars are incredibly creative and are an inspiration from the original MAD Magazine artists' works, including Antonio Prohias, who created the Spy vs. Spy characters, and Norman Mingo, a portrait artist who developed the definitive Alfred E. Neuman rendering." Here is a synopsis of the drivers and cars participating in the MAD promotion: Kenny Wallace/No. 00 Aaron's Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Alfred E.
