Stein commemorates anniversary of Petty's 200th

Fifty years from now, when some motorsports journalist is compiling a list of the 10 most memorable moments in NASCAR history, Richard Petty's 200th victory will still rank near the very top. It was a landmark event by anyone's definition.

It was 20 years ago this past July 4 that Petty reached that historic milestone-one that will likely never be surpassed-by winning the 1984 Pepsi Firecracker 400 at Daytona before an audience that included then-President Ronald Reagan.

To commemorate on of the greatest accomplishments in motorsports history, HiREV is offering a limited edition numbered collectable stein celebrating the anniversary of Richard Petty's 200th Win. The 20-oz. Pewter, lidded ceramic stein is decorated in all-original wraparound four-color imagery recounting The King's final victory.

This is the first such stein ever produced by HiREV, best known for its expansive series of scale replica and tribute hoods.

"We have a great relationship with Petty Enterprises," said Chris Sokley national sales director for HiREV. "When we realized the 20th anniversary of Richard's 200th win was at hand, we couldn't think of a better way to kick off our collectible stein series."

"We close to limit production to 743 based on the number of championships he won-seven-and his car number-43," Sokley explained.

In the grand scheme of collectibles-not just NASCAR-steins have a tremendous following. A quick search of the internet revealed thousands of "hits" pertaining to steins and stein collecting.

"Steins are huge," Sokley acknowledged. "There are some companies out there that do nothing but manufacture steins. There are people who collect steins religiously. We at HiREV believe that steins could be the next big collectible in NASCAR."

Sokley says that HiREV intends to expand its stein portfolio to include more Petty pieces, as well as products honoring achievements of other NASCAR drivers.

"We have about 30 different licenses in NASCAR with drivers, teams and sponsors," he explained. "There's a lot of potential there. We're also looking at creating a lower price category as well. We'll still have the higher-end, limited edition steins for the serious collector, but we'd like to add a lower-priced series with larger production runs that will sell for quite a bit less."

This handsome collectible stein is by now means HiREV's only tribute to the 20th anniversary of Petty's 200th. The company has also released a commemorative computer kit that includes a computer mouse, mouse pad, and screen saver.

And of course, no HiREV special program is complete without a tribute hood.
