NASCAR's love affair with the movies continues to grow with the recent announcement of a special paint scheme promotion headlined by Kasey Kahne and Ward Burton. The seasoned veteran and a budding superstar will take part in a program showcasing the Dreamworks' motion picture "Shark Tale," scheduled to hit the big screen October 1. Kahne -- currently one of the hottest drivers in the collectibles market and a regular in both NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series competition--will drive a specially-decorated No. 38 Great Clips/Shark Tale Dodge at four different NASCAR Busch Series races. Kahne's "swim with the shark" begins next weekend at Michigan, and will also include events at Bristol Motor on August 27, California on September 4 and Speedway on October 9. Burton will pilot a Shark Tale paint job in only one event, the October 3 NASCAR Nextel race at Talladega Superspeedway. Burton, of course, drives the No. 0 NetZero HiSpeed Chevrolet fielded by Haas CNC Racing. | | SUPERSTORE | |

Both paint schemes were unveiled last week at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Action Performance is creating die-cast replicas of both Kahne's No. 38 Great Clips/Shark Tale Dodge and Burton's No. 0 NetZero HiSpeed/Shark Tale Chevrolet in a variety of prized collector scales. The collectibles will be available via Action's standard distribution channels, which includes the NASCAR.COM SuperStore. "DreamWorks' Shark Tale will be another of those films that appeal to families and children with great storytelling," noted Fred Wagenhals, Action's chairman, president and CEO. "The colorful setting, coupled with action and comedy, make it an instant draw and will ensure that there is a little something for everyone. As good as this animated feature looks, Action's die-cast replicas are sure to turn heads. They will make a great addition for fans who collect Kasey Kahne or Ward Burton collectibles." The Shark Tale story line centers around Oscar, a fast talking fish who dreams big. However, his big dreams land him in hot water when a great white lie turns him into an unlikely hero. |
