One of the neat things about racing memorabilia is the fact that there are so many different items out there to collect. Here are responses to some of your inquiries about a variety of miscellaneous collectibles.

Q: I am from Brazil and would like to get some pieces of the NASCAR Greats Metallic Coin Collection. I do not know the year this campaign was run. I have a coin that has Bill Elliott at the front. It seems the supplier was a company named White Light Holdings (Got UM). I hope you can get me some information.--Francesco Sansone

Please remember to be specific when describing a collectible -- manufacturer, year, etc. Limit your questions to two and check our archives before submitting an inquiry.

A: Check eBay. As of last week there were about a dozen different coins from this series up for bid and they are selling for a reasonable price. This set was released in 1997.

Q I have a 26/50 Artist Proof of "Like Father, Like Son" by artist Garry Hill. It is framed and signed by both drivers and the artist, plus a remarque of Davey Allison's car on the bottom of the print. I was wondering what this is worth to a true collector?--Frank G. Parker

A: I went right to the source on this one. Garry Hill keeps meticulous track of what his prints are bringing on the secondary market. Here's what Garry had to say: "The print is currently valued at $2,200. This value is based on the consistent fair market selling price as documented with sales through our company."

Q: I have a Silly Slammer Dale Earnhardt Sr. helmet. When you slam it, it has his voice on it when he crossed finish line at Daytona in 1998. It says, "Good news is we won Daytona 500, bad news is we lost our car." Then spotter says, "10-4 on that." I also have a 1996 Busch beer poster with "Dale Earnhardt True Champion" on top, him with his trophies and stats. What are they worth?-Eva

A: Earnhardt Silly Slammers turn up on eBay fairly regularly and usually don't bring a lot of money. I'd place the collectible value at $10-15. The poster is worth more, probably $25-35.

Q: I have a 1998 Dale Earnhardt Upper Deck sticker, and 1999 Rusty Wallace Upper Deck sticker. I also would like to know what the price on the February 16-22, 2002 TV Guide with a hologram of Dale Earnhardt Sr. on front cover.-E.E.

A: The stickers go for under $5 each. The TV Guide should appraise for $10-20.

Q: I have a 1998 Dr. Pepper NASCAR soft drink bottle. It still has the soda inside. Does it have any value?-Maria Smith

A: A bottle you seldom see anymore. This collectible was largely overlooked because it didn't feature a big name driver. That could increase the potential for appreciation in future years. Right now, it's likely worth $5-7.

Q: I have a set of Case Five-Time Winston Cup Champion (1980-1986-1987-1990-1991) knives. It has five trapper knives and one Bowie in a case. Can you tell me what this set is worth?-LoRhod

A: This is one of the nicest-THE nicest-sets ever produced. I'd place the value at $1100-1250. Only 1000 sets were produced.

Q: I have a picture from Chevrolet that was for the inaugural 1994 Brickyard 400. It has pictures of the pace car and Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, Kenny Schrader, and Jeff Gordon. It shows the cars coming down the front stretch. It was autographed by the drivers listed. I was wondering what value this would have for insurance purposes.--Bob J

A: If the Earnhardt signature can be authenticated, this handout is likely worth $75-125 in terms of collectibility.

Q: I would like to find out the value of some knives I have. I have the Bill Elliott one of 600 autographed, in the wooden box; the Petty Legend with three knives in the Laser engraved wooden case, one of 1500 with Lee, Richard and Kyle; J.D. McDuffie The Last of the Great Indepenents, in the wooden case; and Dale Earnhardt Winston Cup Champion 1980-1986-1987 Winston Cup Champion. I have certificates for all.-KMO

A: You have some valuable cutlery. The Elliott knife is worth around $1000. The Petty set appraises for somewhere in the neighborhood of $800-850. The J. D. McDuffie Bull Dog style knife (only 350 produced) should hold a value of around $600-650. The Earnhardt trapper is a $250-300 blade.

Q: I have a 50th Anniversary Budweiser/ NASCAR coat. It has a signature of someone on it on the top to the collar in the back through a number 50.The coat is black and red with gold stripes in the sleeves. Any idea whose signature it is? I'm not very familiar with NASCAR and can't read the writing very well.--Mary

A: If you're speaking of an embroidered facsimile autograph, it is probably Ricky Craven's signature. Craven drove the No. 50 Budweiser car for Hendrick Motorsports during NASCAR's 50th Anniversary year in 1998.

Q: I have a Sun Drop bottle that was signed/autographed by Dale Earnhardt. Could you tell me the current value of this.--M. Daniel

A: As always, verifying the signature as authentic is the key. If you can do that, and the bottle is full of soda, I'd say you're holding a $75-100 collectible.
