When most collectors think of Racing Champions, they think of affordably-priced die-cast replicas sold at the mass retail level. Indeed, that segment of the market makes up the lion's share of the brand's business. But rest assured, when those folks put their minds to it, they can turn out a collectible that rivals just about anything on the market in terms of detail. The Racing Champions Authentics Series has all the bells and whistles: opening roof flaps, detailed racing brakes, interior vent hoses and driver kneepads, detailed battery box, radio mic wire on steering wheel, opening hood with detailed engine, opening trunk with detailed fuel cell, stamped hood/trunk hinges, mesh grille, roof and bumper cameras-and much, much more. This baby is loaded. Authentics is a very limited edition product line. In fact, not all cars replicated by Racing Champions are chosen to be part of the company's top-shelf. Only a few cars are selected each season. | | SUPERSTORE | |

Just seven cars made the cut in 2004, and four of those racers were piloted by perennial front-runner Jimmie Johnson. The two latest Authentics replicated the Lowe's Tool World Chevy that raced at California, and the Sponge Bob Busch Series entry that competed at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
