Spiderman to meet the 'Ice Man' at Daytona

By Van Cox, Special to Turner Sports Interactive June 4, 2004

Terry Labonte is one of those guys who likes to fly under the radar. H doesn't make a lot of noise, but he is easily one of the most consistent drivers to ever compete at stock car racing's highest level. His personal demeanor and on-track performance have earned him a substantial following and one of the sport's most appropriate nicknames: "The Ice Man."

When the NASCAR contingent rolls into Daytona for the July 3 Pepsi 400 Nextel Cup Series event, the Ice Man will be teaming up with one of Marvel Comics' most beloved heroes, Spiderman in a special paint scheme program designed to promote the upcoming motion picture, "Spiderman 2." The movie stars Tobey Maguire as the mild-mannered Peter Parker, who juggles the delicate balance of his dual life as a college student and a superhuman crime fighter.

This will be Spiderman's second visit to NASCAR-land. In 2001, his image graced the Evernham Motorsports Dodges of Bill Elliott and Casey Atwood.
