Nextel Communications and Amdocs Extend Managed Services Agreement

ST. LOUIS, and RESTON, Va., Oct 27, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via AP/

Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the world's leading provider of billing and CRM software and services for true integrated customer management, and Nextel Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: NXTL), a leading provider of fully integrated wireless communications services, today announced that their managed services agreement, initially signed in 2000, has been extended by more than two years, to the end of 2011. Nextel and Amdocs will continue working together to further enhance Nextel's operational excellence, driving continuous improvements to Nextel's customer care and billing platform. The two companies will work together to analyze Nextel's systems roadmap and determine which Amdocs products and services can be leveraged to support Nextel's impressive subscriber and service growth. Amdocs will also continue to support Nextel's core billing operation.

Since the initial implementation, the Amdocs platform has replaced 11 databases and 14 billing platforms, cost-effectively eliminating redundant infrastructure systems, enhancing operational efficiencies and significantly improving customer response time, which are major contributors to Nextel's industry-leading customer loyalty and retention. Amdocs will continue to provide Nextel with a full range of services to support all of its core billing and customer care systems, including data center services, application support and full management of billing operations supporting all of Nextel's lines of business, from digital cellular, Push To Talk(TM) and Wireless Web to Text/Numeric Messaging capabilities.

"Over the past four years, Amdocs has shown excellence in managing and supporting large-scale projects, and this extension demonstrates the high level of trust developed between our two companies," said Dick LeFave, senior vice president and chief information officer of Nextel. "Amdocs offers a combination of products and services needed to create a seamless customer experience, which is essential to drive subscriber growth and loyalty. Amdocs understands what it takes to achieve true integrated customer management, and remains one of our most strategic and trusted business advisors."

Since the relationship began and the Amdocs solutions were installed, Amdocs' single, unified platform enabled a single customer view throughout the entire customer lifecycle for Nextel. Results to date include lower infrastructure costs, such as reduced call time to answer customer questions or resolve issues, reduced billing cycles and improved customer satisfaction.

Additionally, Amdocs is supplying the billing platform for Nextel's wireless broadband trial. The Amdocs Enabler billing platform is a key component of the Amdocs solution portfolio, which enables the world's leading service providers to move toward integrated customer management, allowing them to build stronger, more profitable customer relationships.

"Amdocs vision of integrated customer management, and our industry-leading products and services, are an ideal combination to boost revenue and maintain subscriber loyalty for Nextel," said Michael Matthews, chief marketing officer of Amdocs. "This contract extension reinforces the success we've had thus far, as Amdocs continues to help Tier One communications service providers to transform themselves to a customer-centric business model -- a business imperative to remain industry leaders."
