Robby Gordon: Pepsi 300 preview

From Team Press Release April 8, 2004
10:23 AM EDT (1423 GMT)

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- For the first time in his career, Robby Gordon will head to the Nashville Superspeedway this weekend in hopes of climbing up the NASCAR Busch Series points standings. Although Gordon has competed in the NASCAR Cup Series since 1991, he will be a true rookie again at the Nashville Superspeedway as he races behind the wheel of the No. 55 Fruit of the Loom Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the Pepsi 300 on Saturday afternoon.

Gordon will be new to Nashville, but he is hoping that the Fruit of the Loom Racing Team will get a little beginner's luck.

"Even though this weekend will be a new experience for me as well as the Fruit of the Loom Racing Team, we are looking forward to racing at the Nashville Superspeedway," said Gordon. The guys have built great car and we will head to the Pepsi 300 with our eyes focused on victory lane."

Previously left off of the schedule, the decision to race in Nashville soon followed the Fruit of the Loom Racing Teams' third place finish in Texas this past Saturday putting the team back into the top-five in the NASCAR Busch Series points.

"We decided that if we finished with a top-five in Texas that we would go to Nashville," said Gordon. "The Fruit of the Loom Racing Team is running well with the help of our Richard Childress Racing engines and if we stay in reach of a championship, I'm sure we will continue to play."
