Dover Busch race postponed by rain

Race will resume at 11 a.m. ET on Monday

DOVER, Del. - Nearly six hours after the scheduled start of the MBNA America 200 Busch Series race, NASCAR finally decided rain was the only winner Saturday at Dover International Speedway.

The race will resume Monday morning at 11 a.m., picking up at lap 28, NASCAR officials said at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday night.

Rain plagued NASCAR activities in Dover all day, as one of the two schedule Nextel Cup practices was washed out. The Busch Series race started late, and only 28 laps were completed before the rains came, causing NASCAR to display the red flag.

Bobby Hamilton Jr. was scored as the leader, with polesitter David Green second, Jason Leffler third, Johnny Sauter fourth and Greg Biffle fifth.

Asked how his day was going, Hamilton Jr. joked, "Well, it's raining."

Saturday's rain "effects everything" with the team, Hamilton Jr. said. He and crew chief Harold Holly have discussed setups for whenever the race is run, Hamilton Jr. said before the race was called.

"We've already been talking about different tire pressures and stuff we can do for today, Monday, whenever we run, as far as not getting grip in the racetrack again," Hamilton Jr. said. "Automatically, you're starting to plan for on down into the race, rain or shine."

Hamilton Jr. wasn't sure what he would do with his Sunday, knowing he had to race Monday morning.

"We're debating whether it's worth the money to go home for one day," Hamilton Jr. said. "You sit around, you get lazy. You kind of wish they'd go ahead and call it so we can come back Monday and start fresh."

Biffle and Ron Hornaday Jr. got into an accident on Lap 15 of the race, causing an angry Hornaday to curse during an MRN Radio interview.

Hornaday appeared to be hit from behind by Biffle and slapped the Turn 2 wall.

"Same Biffle. He said before the race he wasn't going to take no (expletive) from nobody," Hornaday said. "I arced it in there and he tapped me. I hate to say that. He got Robby (Gordon) yesterday because he was upset because he pulled in front of him. They got no patience for nobody I guess."
