Robert Pressley: Federated Auto Parts 300 preview

From Team Press Release June 10, 2004
2:14 PM EDT (1814 GMT)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Saturday's race will be Robert Pressley's second NASCAR Busch Series career start at the 1.333-mile, all concrete Nashville Superspeedway. He finished 11th there earlier this year. Pressley will be making his 220th career start in the NASCAR Busch Series circuit.

"Most of my experience in Nashville came at the short track at the fairgrounds, but I adapted to the new superspeedway really well when we were there two months ago. It's a fast track, and the concrete gives us a lot of grip. You've got to make sure your car travels smoothly through the corners because the concrete can make it bounce around. If you have traction coming off the second and fourth turns, you can set up a good run down the straightaways."

"With Dan Deeringhoff (crew chief) and Steve Plattenberger (team coordinator/shock specialist) and Jeff (Chandler, Stacy Compton's crew chief) all three working together, we've been able to make huge gains in the last couple weeks. They gave me a car that reacted exactly the way it was supposed to react every time we made a change. If we keep that up, I think you'll see we've turned the corner with this team."
