DARLINGTON, S.C. -- On a cold day in South Carolina, Greg Biffle's post-accident tirade warmed things up considerably. | | | Greg Biffle Credit: Autostock |

His anger was directed primarily at Ron Hornaday Jr. for an accident that ended up putting Biffle out of Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series BI-LO 200 at Darlington Raceway. Hornaday, entering his next-to-last race with Richard Childress Racing, was leading on the 28th lap when contact from championship contender Kyle Busch caused him to briefly lose control of his Chevrolet in the middle of Turns 1 and 2. | | | Ron Hornaday Credit: Autostock |

In the midst of recovering from the nudge by Busch, he slid up into Busch's path and triggered a chain-reaction, accordion-style crash that eliminated Biffle and damaged both his and Busch's cars. Biffle was not amused, and the governor was off when he spoke about it to the media. "Everybody was doing good except for Ron Hornaday," Biffle seethed. "That's it in a nutshell. He wouldn't let the 5 (Busch) go, and the 5 had a run on him two or three times down the frontstretch. | | Bi-Lo 200

"The 5 kind of got into him because he ran the 5 down to the apron and brake-checked him right in the middle of the corner and wrecked us all." Biffle wasn't through. | | Darlington Busch Videos

"That just takes zero class to do that, to brake-check a guy right in the middle of the corner and wreck us all. I hope NASCAR does something about it. "That's just ridiculous. I just hope they do something. I hope they penalize him or park him for the rest of the season because stuff like that can't be tolerated. "We're all professional and that's not even close to being a race car driver, that kind of stuff on the race track. I don't understand it." While the steam leaked from Biffle's ears, Hornaday's crew chief, Gil Martin, had a curt response to his tirade. "I think we were busy enough trying to keep our car under control after being hit to worry about brake-checking anybody," Martin said. Hornaday, who will go back to the Truck Series next season, was fairly unconcerned about Biffle's tirade following the race. "Well, I didn't lose control of my car, I got hit pretty good," Hornaday said. "I was gathering it back up, went to hit the gas pedal and missed the gas pedal completely. | | | Kyle Busch Credit: Autostock |

"I got back on it and I guess that's when they got into the back of me. When I was down low, they should have been up high anyway. If it comes from Biffle, take it with a grain of salt anyway. "It's no big deal; it's only Biffle." Busch's day ended later in the event when he hit the concrete retaining wall in Turn 3, giving Martin Truex Jr. the driver's championship with one race left in the season. Still, Busch was more upset about his early run-in with Hornaday. "I put my nose in there and got him a little bit loose getting into the corner and he didn't appreciate it, so he brake-checked me and ruined three people's day and just killed us," Busch said. |
